Consecrated Wraps Patch 7.41a – Still the Most Broken Item?

Alright look. I know the patch came out. I know they nerfed the duration. I know they took 3% magic resist off Consecrated Wraps in 7.41a.

And I’m telling you: it doesn’t matter. This item is still completely busted.

If you’re looking for the best Dota 2 7.41a items to climb MMR, stop scrolling. Consecrated Wraps is your answer.

What Does Consecrated Wraps Do in 7.41a?

Let’s break down the Consecrated Wraps 7.41a stats first:

StatValue
Total Cost2600 gold
Magic Resistance12% (down from 15%)
Health+250
All Attributes+6
RecipeVitality Booster + Shawl + Crown + 700g recipe

Passive – Hallowed:
Gain a stack every 3 seconds (max 3). When you take damage from a player or Roshan, all stacks are consumed to create an all-damage barrier for 5 seconds (down from 7s) that absorbs 120 damage per stack (up to 360). If you’ve ever reached max stacks in the game, gaining a new stack gives 15% bonus movespeed for 5 seconds.

Why Consecrated Wraps Is Still Broken After the 7.41a Nerfs

I learned this the hard way in my own pubs. I’m chasing some offlaner with Consecrated Wraps, I pop their barrier, I think “cool, five seconds and it’s gone.” Wrong.

Here’s the part everyone misses.

You gain stacks while the barrier is active. Every 3 seconds. The barrier lasts 5 seconds. So during that barrier window, you will generate at least one new stack – sometimes two if the fight drags.

That means if I hit you, trigger the Hallowed barrier, and then I hesitate for even a second – or back off to reposition – you already have a new stack waiting. And if I hit you again? 120 damage per removed stack.

For 2600 gold. On top of +250 HP, +6 all stats, and 12% magic resist.

I had a game yesterday where I literally could not kill a Pudge because he just kept getting little baby shields mid-fight. It’s like hitting a piñata that hits back.

How to Counter Consecrated Wraps (The Right Way)

The only way to stop the Consecrated Wraps barrier loop – and this is the part nobody does – is you have to keep hitting them through the shield.

Not after. During.

Because as long as you’re dealing any damage to them (even just tickling the barrier), they cannot gain new Hallowed stacks. The second you stop attacking? Three seconds later, they get a stack. Then you’re back to square one with a fresh barrier.

Here’s what actually happens in my bracket: someone sees the blue glow and just… runs away. Or they chase but stop attacking for half a second to reposition. That’s all it takes. Then boom, new shield.

Pro tip: High attack speed heroes (Windranger, Ursa, Troll Warlord) are great against Consecrated Wraps because they never stop hitting.

Should You Buy Consecrated Wraps in 7.41a?

Yes. Absolutely yes.

Buy it on:

  • Offlaners (Centaur, Tidehunter, Axe, Necro)
  • Tanky mids (Primal Beast, Kunkka)
  • Supports with gold (Ogre Magi, Undying)

Do not buy it on:

  • Hard carries who need damage items (you’re wasting a slot)
  • Heroes who never stand in front (Sniper, Drow)

Final Verdict: Consecrated Wraps Tier List Rating

S-Tier. Even after the 7.41a nerfs.

Until Valve changes the stack generation timing or makes the barrier block stack gain entirely, this is the best value item in Dota 2. Period.

TL;DR: Hit them through the shield or lose. Also buy the item yourself because it’s absurd.

What do you think? Still broken or overrated?
